Minister of Labor discusses with Syrian Ambassador settling the status of Syrian workers in Iraq

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi discussed with the Syrian Ambassador to Iraq Sattam Al-Dandah the possibility of settling the status of Syrian workers in Iraq. Al-Asadi said during the meeting that "the Ministry seeks to find solutions within the law to address the situation of Syrians in the country, noting that there are governing laws, including the Labor Law, that require the registration of the worker and the entity he works for in the Ministry of Labor." He added, "By virtue of the historical relationship that links the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, we are obligated to search for solutions within the legal framework, noting that the Ministry faced a problem regarding workers entering through the Kurdistan Region, which requires correcting their legal status in cooperation with the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Interior. The Minister expressed the ministry's readiness to cooperate in easing procedures and controls regarding the status of Syrian worke rs, while stressing the importance of adopting a certificate of experience and competence in bringing skilled workers into the country."
