Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussein Taha called on Monday for using international judicial means to stop the Israeli occupation's genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people. This came in a speech by the Secretary General at the international symposium titled (Jerusalem and the Gaza War: Palestinian Identity and Existence Under Threat of Erasure) held by the General Secretariat of the OIC in partnership with the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) at OIC's headquarters in Jeddah. OIC Secretary General stressed the importance of activating the criminal justice process, rejecting double standards regarding achieving justice for victims and bringing criminals to account. He pointed out that all Israeli occupation's policies and measures are illegal, illegitimate and a flagrant violation of international laws of the United Nations. He praised the role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), rejecting the Israeli occupation's attempts to undermine its efforts and vital role that contributes to enhancing stability in the region. Taha also reaffirmed the organization's support for the Palestinian cause as its top priority, appreciating the efforts undertaken by the UN and its various agencies. For his part, Permanent Representative of Palestine to the UN Ambassador Riyadh Mansour reaffirmed the unified Arab and Islamic position in achieving three important goals: the immediate cessation of aggression on the occupied Palestinian territories, the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza Strip and stopping the war crime and the forced displacement of the Palestinians. The 23rd regular session of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the OIC kicked off on Sunday and would continue until July 4 at the organization's headquarters in Jeddah with the participation of Kuwait.
