Minister Highlights Investment Law’s Role in Boosting Women’s Participation

Amman: Minister of Investment Kholoud Saqqaf emphasized that the Investment Environment Law includes provisions designed to enhance women's roles in investment by ensuring equality and fairness for all investors. Speaking at a dialogue seminar organized by the Jordan Forum for Business and Professional Women in collaboration with the South African Embassy, Saqqaf highlighted that women are now included in the Investment Council and are granted the same rights and opportunities as men. The symposium covered key sectors where women are active, such as agriculture, cosmetics, and creative industries, focusing on empowering women, promoting diversity, and building sustainable economies. Saqqaf noted that the law provides additional incentives for projects employing Jordanian women, particularly in less developed areas, which aims to increase the number of women-led projects. She added that the law seeks to reduce bureaucratic obstacles, making it easier for female investors to enter and compete in the labor ma rket. Reflecting on the past two years, Saqqaf pointed out the government's implementation of economic, political, and administrative reforms under royal directives to create an optimal investment climate and integrate Jordan into regional and global markets. She also mentioned the Ministry's efforts to facilitate investment projects and enhance their presence in Jordan, referencing the 2023-2026 investment promotion strategy and the launch of the invest.jo platform, which showcases 17 investment sectors and 39 opportunities. South African Ambassador Tselane Mokuena, celebrating National Women's Empowerment Month, spoke on the shared challenges women face globally, particularly in sectors where their participation remains low. She called for more equitable environments that promote women's leadership and economic independence. Reem Baghdadi, President of the Jordanian Business and Professional Women Forum, emphasized the symposium's significance in fostering empowerment, cooperation, and growth between Jo rdan and South Africa. She highlighted the vital role Jordanian women play in various sectors and the importance of partnerships in driving change and innovation.
