Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, conferred on Director General of Jordan's King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Dr. Asem Mansour, Kuwait Prize for the Control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. The award was handed over during the 71st session of the WHO Regional Committee, in honor of the center's "exceptional" contributions to cancer control efforts. In a statement on Tuesday, Mansour said this "distinguished" award does "not only reflect a personal effort," but is the culmination of a collective endeavour by workers at the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center (KHCF/KHCC), local and international supporters, and "above all, patients who teach lessons in resilience and fighting cancer." The award is granted to individuals or institutions that make "remarkable" contributions to fight cancer through research, innovation, or the provision of "distinguished" medical services, the statement pointed out.
