JFDA Introduces New Drug Inspection System to Enhance Safety and Quality

Amman: The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) announced Monday it issued Drug Inspection System No. (40) of 2024 after it obtained government approval. JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat said in a press release on Monday that the new system will take effect 30 days after its publication in the Official Gazette, adding that it will boost drug safety and better regulate inspection procedures, ensuring quality and effective medications in line with international standards. Mheidat further noted that the system will enhance the JFDA's accreditation as an international regulatory body, recognized by such organizations as Global Inspection Services and the World Health Organization. "This development is expected to increase local drug exports and support the national economy, aligning with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision under royal directives," he added. Under the new system, all medicines in the Jordanian market, both local and imported, will undergo regular post-marketing analysis. Th e process involves sampling from various circulation points and the supply chain by the pharmaceutical control and inspection teams to conduct initial examinations post-registration, followed by further analysis to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medicines.
