Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur advanced to the last 16 at the Berlin Open on Wednesday after waiting out the rain to defeat Wang Xinyu in straight sets. The match was interrupted by the rain in the first set, but after the restart Jabeur claimed a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win and will now face Czech Republic's Linda Noskova. Earlier, former world number one Viktoria Azarenka became the first player to secure a spot in the quarter-finals with a 6-3, 6-3 win over qualifier Zeynep Sonmez. Berlin boasts a star-studded field with eight top 10 players, but Poland's freshly crowned four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek is not among the group as she preferred to rest after her Roland Garros win. It is a major tune-up event for Wimbledon which starts on Jul. 1. Source: Qatar News Agency
