The Israeli army expanded its air strikes and artillery shelling on southern Lebanese areas on Tuesday evening. A Lebanese security source told the Jordan News Agency's (Petra) correspondent in Beirut that members of the Lebanese army center in the town of Bastra in Kafr Shuba survived direct artillery shelling, and the damage was limited to material damage. "Members of the Civil Defense also survived direct Israeli shelling while trying to extinguish fires on the outskirts of Kafr Shuba." The source said Israeli artillery shelled facilities, tanks and offices of the Litani project implemented by the Council for Development and Reconstruction in the town of Markaba and caused a fire in the project. Israeli warplanes also violated the sound barrier over the villages of Tyre and Bint Jbeil districts and dropped thermal balloons, the source concluded. Source: Jordan News Agency
