Israel to Demolish Five Palestinian Dwellings South of Hebron

Hebron: Israeli occupation forces on Monday issued demolition notices against five dwellings in Masafer Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to a local activist.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Osama Makhamra reported that the forces entered Khirbet Lasefar, a hamlet within Masafer Yatta, and issued demolition orders for residences belonging to members of the Abu Qubeita family.

In another incident, Israeli colonists reportedly allowed their livestock to graze on cultivated Palestinian land in the Masafer Yatta localities of Ighzaiwa, Marah al-Batyeh, Shi’b al-Butum, Tal Ma’in, and Qwaiwis, resulting in damage to trees and crops. The colonists also damaged the main power line supplying electricity to the village of Umm al-Kheir.

Masafer Yatta comprises 19 hamlets with a primary reliance on animal husbandry as a livelihood. Located in Area C of the West Bank, it is under full Israeli administrative and military control and has been repeatedly subjected to Israeli violations, including attacks by colonists and soldiers on livestock.

The region has been designated as a closed Israeli military zone for training since the 1980s, known as Firing Zone 918. Violations in the area include demolition of animal barns, homes, and residential structures, with no construction permits being issued to local Palestinians.
