RAMALLAH: The head of the PLO Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority, Qadura Fares, said today that the Israeli prison authorities have placed imprisoned Fatah official Marwan al-Barghouti in solitary confinement in the Ramla prison. In a press release, Fares explained that the transfer of al-Barghouti comes after recent statements by the extremist Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir calling for al-Barghouti to be sent to solitary confinement. He pointed out that the extensive transfers and collective and solitary confinement practices employed by the Israeli authorities have almost targeted all Palestinian prisoners in the aftermath of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. Fares emphasized that the repeated transfers of al-Barghouti to solitary confinement, coupled with the ongoing ban on lawyers visiting him, raise genuine concerns about his life, especially as this occurs amid continuous direct incitement against him in Israeli media.
