GAZA CITY: The Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for residents in Gaza City’s Rimal and Sabra neighborhoods, as part of preparations for forthcoming airstrikes. The move has prompted further displacement among residents who have already faced repeated relocations in search of safety.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the evacuation orders target six residential blocks in the affected neighborhoods. The ongoing conflict has subjected the Gaza Strip to widespread airstrikes, impacting not only residential areas but also critical infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and United Nations facilities, which have been repurposed as shelters for displaced populations.
Since the onset of hostilities on October 7, 2023, Israeli military actions in Gaza have led to over 151,000 casualties, encompassing both fatalities and injuries, with a significant proportion of the victims being women and children. The humanitarian crisis is exacerbated by the continued devastation and famin
e that have resulted in additional casualties, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. The situation is further complicated by the fact that more than 11,000 individuals remain missing, adding to the region’s ongoing humanitarian challenges.
