Iraq And The Czech Republic Discuss Ways To Develop Bilateral Relations

Head of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Haider Mansour Al-Adhari, discussed today, Wednesday, with the Czech Ambassador in Baghdad, Peter Štebank, ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, and the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the Czech Republic.

The ministry stated in a statement: “During his meeting with the Czech ambassador in Baghdad, Al-Adhari discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the Czech Republic during the year 2024, and the possibility of signing a number of agreements ready to be signed during the visit.”

The two sides also discussed the visit of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to the Czech Republic, the necessary preparations for its implementation in the near future, and arranging a number of meetings with senior officials in Prague.

The statement added: “Preparations are currently underway to hold the meeting of the fourth session of the joint (Iraqi-Czech) committee in Prague, and the possibility of involving Iraqi businessmen during the visit and meeting with their counterparts from Czech businessmen, and reviewing investment opportunities in both countries.”

Al-Adhari pointed out the interest of the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, in convening the (Iraqi-Czech) committee to enhance cooperation through it at all levels and fields between the two countries, and providing mutual courses in both the Czech Diplomatic Academy for Iraqi diplomats and the Foreign Service Institute in the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Czech diplomats to exchange experiences, and strengthening cultural cooperation by providing scholarships for Iraqis in Czech universities and Iraqi scholarships for Czech students to study in Iraq, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest.
