Nablus: Several Palestinian citizens sustained bruises and suffered suffocation from teargas in an attack by Israeli occupation forces and colonists in the village of Salem, located east of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local sources reported that a number of civilians sustained minor injuries as they attempted to defend olive harvesters being attacked by Israeli colonists. The colonists, who were escorted by Israeli military forces, targeted farmers in the region while they were picking olives in the eastern part of the village, an area to which locals are often restricted access. The situation escalated when Israeli soldiers launched a barrage of tear gas canisters, causing several citizens to suffer from suffocation due to teargas inhalation. According to the same sources, the farmers had ventured to the olive groves in the restricted area, only to face an assault by dozens of Israeli colonists. The Israeli military sealed off roads in the a rea to prevent local residents from coming to the farmers' aid. The Palestinian Authority's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reports that since the beginning of the olive season, Israeli forces and colonists have carried out dozens of attacks against Palestinian farmers, with incidents of violence continuing to rise. In October alone, the commission documented 1,490 violations committed by Israeli forces and colonists against Palestinians, their land, and property, particularly in the West Bank.
