Gaza City: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has renewed its call for urgent international intervention to address the escalating Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank. The Ministry warned that these actions threaten to ignite the region and undermine prospects for establishing a Palestinian state.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Ministry issued a statement highlighting the increasing Israeli plans that include crimes of extermination, displacement, and destruction in the Gaza Strip. The statement also pointed out the continued incursions by the occupation army and colonists into the West Bank, along with the demolition of hundreds of homes in areas such as the Jenin and Tulkarm refugee camps and other Palestinian towns.
The Ministry further emphasized that these activities are part of a broader strategy involving the expansion of colonies, the construction of new colonial outposts, and the seizure of vast areas of the West Bank. These actions are reportedly justified under the guise of "pastoral colonialism" and military purposes, aiming to fragment the West Bank and restrict Palestinians' freedom of movement.
The Ministry expressed concern over the targeting of Christian and Islamic holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque, which faces threats of division. It called on the international community to implement immediate and effective measures to halt Israel's actions against Palestinians and protect their rights.
Additionally, the Ministry welcomed efforts by France and Saudi Arabia to ensure the success of an upcoming international conference in New York. It emphasized the need for the conference to address the challenges facing the Palestinian cause, including the cessation of genocide, displacement, and annexation, and the preservation of the two-state solution.
