Ankara Condemns Israeli Interception of Gaza-Bound Aid Vessel as ‘Heinous’ Attack

Ankara: Ankara on Tuesday slammed Israel for forcibly intercepting the aid vessel that headed towards Gaza in the early hours of Monday morning, describing it as a 'heinous' attack.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Trkiye expressed strong condemnation of the incident in a press statement. The Ministry described the intervention of Israeli forces against the ship 'Madleen', which was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza including Turkish citizens on board, as a clear violation of international law, noting that the ship was in international waters at the time of the interception.

Furthermore, the statement criticized the actions of the Netanyahu government, accusing Israel of threatening freedom of navigation and maritime security, and labeling the nation as a "terror state." The Ministry underscored its condemnation by praising the international community's response against what it termed as 'the genocidal policies of Israel,' which it accused of using hunger as a weapon and obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Trkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs pledged its continued support for global efforts to challenge Israel's actions, asserting that such aggressive and unlawful actions by Israel will not suppress the voices advocating for human dignity and universal values.
