Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein announced that Iraq will reach certain understandings with the Turkish side regarding the Bashiqa camp. Hussein said in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Ankara, today, Thursday: "We will reach certain understandings with the Turkish side regarding the Bashiqa camp," noting that "Iraq has decided to put the Kurdistan Workers' Party on the list of banned parties." Fouad Hussein expressed concern about "the intensity of tensions in the region and what is happening in Gaza, and we seek to cease fire in Gaza," stressing that "Iraq stands against any wars in the region." Regarding the memorandum of understanding with Turkey, Fouad Hussein indicated that it is "the first of its kind in the history of the two countries." For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Turkey and Iraq on military and security cooperation and combating terrorism. Fidan expressed satisfaction with Ira q's decision to close 3 parties linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party. Fouad Hussein wrote in a post on the X platform today, Thursday: "I held a fruitful meeting today with my friend Hakan Fidan, and discussed the frameworks for enhancing joint cooperation between our two countries." Fouad Hussein added: "During the meeting, we discussed ways to activate the strategic framework agreement that was signed during President Erdogan's visit to Baghdad, stressing the importance of deepening bilateral relations in a way that serves common interests."
