The Prime Minister's office stated, according to the British Sky News network, that Angela Rayner was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Housing and Communities, and the Finance portfolio was assigned to Rachel Reeves. She thus becomes the first woman to hold this position in the country's history.' While John Healey was appointed Minister of Defence, the Foreign Affairs portfolio was assigned to David Lammy, and the Home Affairs portfolio was assigned to Yvette Cooper. Starmer continues to meet with the leaders of the Labor Party to choose the rest of the members of the new government after the party succeeded in achieving a landslide victory in the elections that took place yesterday.
