The Fisheries Ministry announced the opening of the squid fishing season in the Red Sea region from Yemeni marine waters. The Ministry explained in its decision No. (3) for the year 1446 AH / 2024 AD that the squid fishing season began as of Monday, August 5, 2024 until further notice. According to the decision, the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea is responsible for facilitating the work of fishermen and organizing the public auction in accordance with the law, informing local merchants, export companies and buyers to purchase through the public auction, and ensuring the fishermen rights. The Ministry and the Authority called for preventing the use of illegal means, methods , equipment in catching squid, preventing fishing in coral reef areas and fish breeding areas. It pointed out that this decision came based on the recommendation of the General Authority for Marine Research , Sciences and Aquatic Life, with the aim of regulating, exploiting and protecting aquatic life.
