Bethlehem - Ma'an - In response to the news regarding a bilateral meeting held in Cairo between Fatah and Hamas, the Palestinian Democratic Union (FIDA) stressed that any meeting between the Palestinian national factions on a bilateral or more level is welcomed, appreciated and necessary and should not be interrupted under any circumstances. However, it cannot and should not be a substitute for a comprehensive Palestinian national dialogue that brings together all Palestinian factions, especially in light of the current challenges, dangers and threats facing our people and our national cause. The party said in its statement, "Based on this and to confirm it, we renew our demand to our brother President (Abu Mazen) to call for an urgent and emergency meeting of the secretaries-general of all factions in order to jointly discuss the current dangers, challenges and threats and take the necessary measures to confront them, including implementing the outcomes of the Moscow meeting and the Beijing Declaration." T he party stressed in this regard that otherwise our positions will remain below the required level and insufficient, and the Israeli occupier will shed our blood and persist in its aggression against our people, our land and our holy sites.
