World Food Programme Warns of Worsening Hunger Crisis in Gaza Strip

Gaza City: The World Food Programme (WFP) has highlighted an urgent need to escalate aid efforts in the Gaza Strip to address the rapidly spreading hunger crisis. The WFP emphasized the necessity of reaching those suffering from starvation "before it is too late," amidst the ongoing conflict and blockade imposed by Israel.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the entire population of the Gaza Strip is experiencing severe acute food insecurity. This situation is further detailed in a collaborative report on Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2025, compiled by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), WFP, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and World Health Organization (WHO). The report identifies Palestine, and specifically the Gaza Strip, as one of the regions with the highest percentage of the population facing critical food shortages.

The WFP has declared an "urgent need" for a substantial increase in food aid to the area to ensure that the starving population is reached swiftly. The WFP has indicated that it possesses sufficient food stocks to support all Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for three months, contingent upon Israel permitting the entry of the aid.

The organization has called for an increase in the number of food aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip via all available crossings. Additionally, it has urged the establishment of more routes within the Strip to facilitate the timely delivery of aid to all affected communities, thereby mitigating delays in accessing food resources.
