RAMALLAH: The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission revealed that a female Palestinian prisoner was beaten and abused while returning from traveling back to Palestine before she was detained and transferred to an occupation army center. The Commission stated in its statement issued today that the prisoner Baraa Awad, from the town of Beit Jala, was subjected to inhumane treatment in the military center and during her transfer between the 'Ofer,' 'Sharon,' and 'Damon' Israeli prisons, and that the soldiers deliberately terrorized and intimidated her. Awad spoke to the Commission's lawyer, who recently visited her, about the prison conditions in general, and said, that "living conditions are tragic." "We are singled out," she said, adding that the Israeli soldiers are practising harsh policies that include confiscation of rights and imposition of penalties against them. She added that drinking water and poor food have become both methods and means of permanent torture, which negatively affected fema le prisoners whose circumstances become more complicated on a daily basis. The Commission stated that the occupation prison administration did not take into account the prisoners' requirements of the holy month of Ramadan, adding that it didn't make them tone down their escalatory steps. It is noteworthy that the number of female prisoners in 'Damoun' prison today is 68, the majority of whom were detained after October 7. Source: Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA
