England claimed the UEFA U21 European Championship title after a 1-0 win over Spain in the 2023 final that was held in Georgia on Saturday.

The English team maintained their perfect defensive record in the tournament as James Trafford's penalty save from Abel Ruiz in the ninth minute of stoppage time secured the trophy for England for the first time since 1984.

This is England's third UEFA Euro U21 championship. They lost the final in 2009 and that remains their only loss in the final of the competition. The last time England won the U21 championship, they defeated Spain in the final that took place in 1984.
