Amman: Chairman of Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), Ziad Saideh, discussed with the CEO of Jordanian Egyptian FAJR for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply Co. Ltd., Fouad Abbas, ways to enhance prospects for joint Jordanian-Egyptian cooperation in the natural gas fields and exchange of expertise. According to an EMRC statement Sunday, the meeting, which was held during a visit by the commission's delegation to Egypt recently, reviewed the technologies used in "vital" projects to transport and supply natural gas to homes and factories. The statement said this effort aligns with the increased reliance on natural gas and energy transformation, as well as plans to reduce carbon emissions, and convert cars to use gas as a clean fuel instead of petroleum derivatives. Saideh stressed the importance of continuing "effective" bilateral cooperation by conducting field visits and and interactive workshops to exchange expertise and benefit from Egyptian experience to expand use of natural gas in Jorda n. Saideh added that this collaboration would also set technical and legal specifications and regulatory rules to operate natural gas networks, aimed to ensure "free" competition in the sector. During the visit of the EMRC's visit, the delegation held talks and made visits to natural gas companies in Egypt, especially Al Obour Industrial City, where factories and residences were gas-powered and a station launched to convert vehicles to operate on compressed natural gas. Additionally, the delegation visited other Egyptian industrial and trade facilities run by natural gas and checked on a model of using this fuel for heating purposes in swimming pools. The delegates also toured the largest gas-run car station in Egypt, and a model of a bus that operates on the same energy source, the statement said. Source: Jordan News Agency
