Cairo: Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed on Monday that regional peace and security would remain elusive without the fulfilment of the rights of the Palestinian people. Speaking during a press conference with Ireland's Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence, Helen McEntee, Abdelatty reiterated Cairo's rejection of any plans to displace the Palestinian people, whether voluntarily or forcibly, and stressed the need for the immediate implementation of the second phase of U.S. President Trump's plan on Gaza.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Abdelatty commended Ireland for its principled positions regarding the recognition of a Palestinian state and its defence of Palestinian rights in international forums. He emphasized the importance of allowing unhindered access of humanitarian and relief aid to the Strip and maintaining security and stability in the Middle East. Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's complete rejection of any military solutions to regional crises and emphasized the unity of Palestinian territories between the West Bank and Gaza, warning against any measures that would divide the Strip or undermine the two-state solution.
Irish Foreign Minister McEntee announced her plans to visit the Rafah Crossing tomorrow to witness the efforts to facilitate the entry of aid into Gaza firsthand. She praised Egypt's continuous efforts to achieve calm and alleviate humanitarian suffering in Gaza. McEntee affirmed that the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza must be implemented, more aid must be allowed into the Strip, and focus should be placed on the two-state solution as a comprehensive plan for peace.
