Doha: The 33rd Doha International Book Fair is adorned with over 65 creative works in the Islamic Calligraphy and Arabic Art Gallery, featuring artists and decorators from Qatar and the Arab world, representing the diverse trends and aesthetics of these arts. The works highlight the immense diversity in the application of these arts in the Islamic world and their connection to the aesthetic foundations of Islamic architecture in the past and present, as well as the openness of creators to new and contemporary trends in the cultural landscape. In this context, visual artist Ali Dasmal Al Kuwari, a member of the organizing committee for the Islamic Calligraphy and Arabic Art Gallery, stated to Qatar News Agency that the Ministry of Culture celebrated the creative calligraphers and decorators, given the link between these arts and this creativity to the book as a genuine source of knowledge and to the heritage of Arab and Islamic architecture and its aesthetics. He pointed out that the works reflect the diver sity of styles and treatments in the Arab and Islamic world by highlighting the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy and its arts in some, the aesthetics of ornamentation in others, and the blending of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic ornamentation in some. Al Kuwari emphasized that the public interacted with the works that were distinguished by their beauty, and with the artists who used environmentally friendly colors and materials such as paper and colors in their implementation, in line with Qatar's direction towards sustainability and environmental protection.
