The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance, Dr. Rashid Abu Lahoum, the Governor of Al-Mahweet, Haneen Qattina, and the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Dr. Ali Al-Zaykum, inaugurated on Monday the first phase of supporting community initiatives for projects to build dams and water barriers.
The first phase of support includes 65,000 bags of cement and 25,000 liters of diesel provided by the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit at the Ministry of Finance.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that this step comes in implementation of the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and a practical translation of the projects for which the foundation stone was laid by His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, to finance the necessary projects needed by the governorate, activate community partnership and pay attention to the construction of dams, barriers and water caravans, to achieve agricultural and economic development, and the requirements of citizens in various aspects of service and development.
He pointed out that the interest in building dams and water barriers constitutes the cornerstone of agricultural development, to achieve food security, and the economic return that will be represented in increasing agricultural areas, production quantities of grains and various agricultural products that characterize the governorate of Al-Mahweet, leading to self-sufficiency
