Council of Ministers Welcomes Arab Consensus on Immediate Cessation of Israeli Aggression.

RAMALLAH: The Cabinet Wednesday welcomed the Arab and Muslim consensus on the need for the immediate cessation of the Israeli genocidal aggression in Gaza. During its weekly session held in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the Council of Ministers welcomed the decisions of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit, which kicked off in Riyadh on Monday with the attendance of more than 50 leaders of Arab and Islamic countries, including President Mahmoud Abbas. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Council of Ministers embraced the summit's resolutions, particularly those emphasizing the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the steadfast support for the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate and inalienable national rights. Foremost among these rights is the pursuit of freedom and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Council also commended the joint efforts by the attendees to halt the ongoi ng Israeli genocidal aggression in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 43,712 Palestinians and injuries to 103,258 others, mostly women and children. They urged the Security Council to form an independent and credible international investigation committee to examine the Israeli occupation crimes in the Strip and rejected the forcible displacement of Palestinians. Furthermore, the Council welcomed the attendees' call for all states to provide substantial political and financial support to the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). They also advocated for international support to suspend Israel's participation in the United Nations General Assembly and urged a ban on the export or transfer of weapons and ammunition to Israel. Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, who chaired the session, expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia and the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee for their efforts in expanding recognition of the State of Palestine and addressing the aggression on Leb anon. The Council of Ministers reiterated its opposition to all unilateral measures by the Israeli occupation and emphasized President Abbas' instructions to intensify diplomatic efforts to ensure a cessation of the genocidal aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The Council discussed establishing a financial system to bolster the resilience of Palestinians and compensate them for the demolition of their properties in Area C, which comprises 60 percent of the West Bank. They also planned to support vital projects in Jerusalem with an initial donation of approximately 8 million shekels. Additionally, the Council approved the formation of a legal archaeological team to prosecute Israel before international legal and cultural institutions as part of efforts to nullify its decision to seize historic sites in the West Bank.
