Council of Ministers approves Judicial Authority Law amendments, addresses key national, Inte’l issues

SANA'A - SABA: The Council of Ministers convened on Monday under the chairmanship of Ahmed al-Rahawi. The session began with recitations from the Holy Quran and excerpts from Imam Ali's covenant to Malik al-Ashtar. During the meeting, the Council approved a draft law amending provisions of Law No. (1) of 1991 regarding the Judicial Authority. This amendment, proposed by Minister of Justice and Human Rights Judge Mujahid Abdullah and Head of the State Legal Office Dr. Ismail al-Mahaqri, aims to address existing deficiencies within the Yemeni judiciary and enhance its role in delivering justice. The draft law will now be referred to the Parliament for further discussion and approval. Dr. al-Mahaqri elaborated on the amendments, noting they are based on a comprehensive study of the judiciary's current state and are intended to better fulfill its mission of justice and rights protection. The Council also discussed the escalating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza and the We st Bank, condemning the Israeli aggression and the humanitarian crisis it has caused. Yemen reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian cause and pledged continued assistance, including the enforcement of measures to block ships heading to occupied Palestinian ports until the aggression ceases and the blockade is lifted. The Council praised the advancements in Yemen's military production sector, highlighting its progress in developing defensive and offensive technologies. It expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defense for these achievements, which are seen as a source of national pride. The Council condemned the recent Israeli attack on Masyaf in Syria, which resulted in significant casualties, and expressed solidarity with Syria. It also commended the martyrdom operation at Karameh crossing, which reflects widespread anger in the Arab and Islamic world over the Israeli actions. In another matter, the Council reviewed a report on pomegranate prices, presented by Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed al-Madan i. The report detailed factors contributing to price declines and proposed measures to address these issues, aiming to stabilize the market and support local farmers.
