Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that his country will stop coal exports to the Zionist entity until it stops the 'genocide' against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Petro said in a post on the X platform: 'We will stop our exports of coal to the Zionist entity until the genocide stops.' This decision comes after Petro cut diplomatic relations between his country and the Zionist entity last May, describing Benjamin Netanyahu's government as "committing genocide" against the Palestinians. Colombia also stopped purchasing weapons from the Zionist entity.' The Colombian government explained that this measure will be implemented 5 days after its publication in the Official Gazette, noting that between January and August 2023, Colombia exported goods worth $375 million to the Zionist entity, and that a 'large portion' of it was coal exports. In turn, the Colombian Ministry of Trade and Industry confirmed that the cessation of coal exports will in force 'until full respect for the temporary measur es ordered by the International Court of Justice within the framework of the process of implementing the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip.
