Cash deposit crisis threatens the economy

Ramallah-Ma'an- Businessmen warned of the serious repercussions on the national economy in general, in light of the refusal of banks operating in the Palestinian territories to accept cash deposits in shekels. They called on the head of the Financial and Administrative Control Bureau, Amal Faraj, to intervene to reduce these repercussions. This came during Faraj's meeting with the Chairman of the Plastic Industries Union and member of the Board of Directors of the Hebron Chamber, Kamel Al-Zeer Al-Husseini, and the Economic Advisor and member of the Board of Directors of the Hebron Chamber, Ahmed Hassouna, in her office in the city of Ramallah. They said: "The Monetary Authority has not provided solutions for cash deposits for a long time, and there is a danger threatening the economy, as some importers are no longer able to purchase goods from inside and outside Palestine, and resolving this crisis is vital." Al-Husseini stressed the importance of the responsible authorities in the government and the Monet ary Authority intervening urgently to resolve this crisis that threatens everyone, from the private and public sectors and citizens alike, in light of the difficult circumstances that the Palestinian territories are going through. During the meeting, ways of joint cooperation between the Financial and Administrative Control Bureau and the Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and between the Bureau and the Union of Plastic Industries, on the other hand, were discussed. In a separate context, Al-Husseini and Hassouna met with the President's Advisor for Governorate Affairs, Lieutenant General Hajj Ismail Jaber, in his office in Ramallah. At the beginning of the meeting, they thanked the security forces and their leaders for their continuous and tireless work to ensure the spread of security and safety and the establishment of the rule of law. They renewed the demand of the people of Hebron to increase the number and equipment of the security forces in the Hebron Governorate, which suffers from this shorta ge. They stressed that the security situation requires increasing the number and equipment, especially for the police force in its various departments, as it is in direct contact with citizens, and there are many legal and criminal cases that have not been completed due to the shortage of security personnel. They provided an explanation of the economic situation in the Hebron Governorate, and the impact of the crisis of cash deposits in shekels in banks operating in the Palestinian territories on the economic wheel. At the end of the tour, Counselor Hassouna said: 'The efforts made by His Excellency the President of the Financial and Administrative Control Bureau to improve institutional and service work and the reflection of this on the services provided to citizens.'
