The Jordan Foundation to Develop Lands Adjacent to the Baptism Site has signed an agreement with a Jordanian investor to develop 64 dunums of the designated investment area. It was sealed by Chairman of the foundation, Samir Murad, and Barakat Nawafleh, who spearheads the establishment of a camp resort featuring a minimum of 30 cabins, a restaurant, swimming pools and other facilities, a project that will prioritize water and energy efficiency. Murad expressed his enthusiasm for the agreement, the second signed this year, as "another milestone for the foundation in its mission to oversee the implementation of the master plan for the 1,374-dunum zone." Nawafleh, an entrepreneur and founder and CEO of successful investments in Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba, said he will leverage his network and resources for the success of the project. His portfolio includes the Royal Diving Club, Luxotel aqaba Beach Resort and Spa, wadi Rum Bubble Luxotel and an air balloon experience in Petra. The nonprofit foundation, dedic ated to promoting the UNESCO-preserved Baptism Site, signed an agreement with Medjool Village Co. earlier this year to develop the expansive 670-dunum farms, including a date farm, biblical plants and crops and agri-tourism packages.
