Armed Israeli Police Breach French-Owned Church in Jerusalem.

JERUSALEM: Armed Israeli police broke into The Church of the Pater Noster in the occupied city of Jerusalem on Thursday evening, which led French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot to cancel a planned visit to the site. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press statement condemning the unauthorized entry by Israeli police, who were armed at the time. The statement noted that Minister Barrot chose not to visit the site under these conditions. The statement further revealed that after the delegation left, Israeli police arrested two staff members of the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem, despite their diplomatic status. The staff members were released following the intervention of Minister Barrot. The French Minister strongly criticized the incident, declaring the actions as unacceptable and emphasizing France's commitment to de-escalating violence in the region. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Israeli Amb assador to France would be summoned in the coming days to address these actions. The Church of the Pater Noster, situated near the Church of the Ascension on the Mount of Olives, is a Roman Catholic church originally established by the Byzantines. It is traditionally believed to be the site where Jesus taught the Lord's Prayer. The current structure, built in 1873, is known for its ceramic plaques displaying the Lord's Prayer in over 70 languages.
