Algeria Saturday welcomed the advisory opinion adopted by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for supporting the Palestinian people's inalienable legitimate right to restore their occupied territory. In a press release, the Algerian Foreign Ministry said that this landmark step reminds the international group that the essence of the conflict lies with the occupation's expansionism, which rests upon usurping Palestinian lands, building settlements, and imposing the fait accompli. The ultimate goal, it maintained, is to undermine the "Palestinian national project" and the two-state solution that has been established by international legitimacy for more than seven decades. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled on Friday that the Israeli occupation's continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is "unlawful" and that it should come to an end "as rapidly as possible". This came in an advisory opinion issued by the ICJ with respect to the legal consequences arising from the policies an d practices of the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
