Acting Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi confirmed today, Thursday: "The late former President of the Republic, Jalal Talabani, was keen after the change of the regime, due to his influential power, to play an honorable role in all stages of building the new Iraq." Al-Mandalawi said, according to a statement by his media office: "We remember on this day, the seventh anniversary of the passing of the dear former President of the Republic, the late Jalal Talabani, this unique national figure who embodied the most wonderful aspects of sacrifice, struggle, and seasoned political management and dedicated it to serving his people, liberating his country, and standing up to dictatorship." He added: "After the change, due to his influential power, he was keen to play an honorable role in all stages of building the new Iraq and creating a pluralistic democratic system that embraces all Iraqis, to be the wise leader and the umbrella that embraces all Iraqi segments and components."
