The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, stressed the importance of the European Union countries having a position and a role in reducing the escalation taking place inside the Palestinian territories and condemning the massacres committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
The media office of the head of the State of Law coalition said in a statement: “Al-Maliki met in his office today with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, and during the meeting the future of Iraq’s relations with the European Union countries was discussed, and the need to strengthen them in various fields. The current events in occupied Palestine and the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation forces were also discussed.”
Al-Maliki warned Israel and its supporters against the anger of the Arab and Islamic peoples in the event of continued violations, provocations and escalation against the Palestinian people, calling for the necessity of bringing food and relief aid into the Gaza Strip, and ending the siege imposed by Israel on the Palestinian people.
He affirmed Iraq's position of rejecting calls for the forced displacement of the people of the Gaza Strip, which the Israeli occupation forces are calling for.
For his part, Ambassador Thomas Seiler expressed "the European Union's desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq, expressing his hope to end the intensity of the conflict and enhance stability throughout the Middle East."
