Baghdad: Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed the importance of local councils and their role in working to provide services to citizens. The State of Law Coalition stated in a statement: "Al-Maliki met in his office today with members of the House of Representatives and local councils headed by Dr. Mustafa al-Kubaisi." He added: "During the meeting, developments in the political and economic situation in the country were discussed, as well as a number of topics and developments related to the current situation." The head of the State of Law Coalition stressed the importance of activating dialogue among political forces and coordination for the purpose of accelerating the election of a new speaker of the House of Representatives in a way that ensures the continuation of its legislative and oversight work. He stressed "the importance of local councils and their role in working to provide services to citizens and address the files that the country's governorates suffer from." For t heir part, the delegation members expressed their thanks and gratitude to the head of the State of Law Coalition for his proposals supporting the establishment of stability in the country, stressing their keenness to carry out their responsibilities and duties towards the country and the citizen.
