Abdulla bin Khalid College of Islamic Studies board holds regular meeting

The Board of Trustees of the Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid College of Islamic Studies held its regular meeting at the Ministry of Education today.

Education Minister and Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, presided over the meeting, also attended by Dr. Shaikh Abdullatif Mahmood Al-Mahmood, Dr. Shaikh Salman Al-Shaikh Mansoor Al-Sitri and other members.

The Council extended deepest thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for allocating a Sharia college concerned with various modern Islamic sciences and bearing the name of the late His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, which would contribute to the graduation of qualified Sharia sciences competencies.

The panel approved the results of the graduates of the first batch of the Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid College of Islamic Studies, and discussed the ongoing preparations to hold their graduation ceremony.

It was also briefed about the progress of the construction of the new premises of the College, commending the efforts being made by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Works to complete work on the new building, which is characterised by its distinctive Arab and Islamic architectural style.

The Board of Trustees also reviewed a proposal submitted by its chairman to establish an introductory programme for students enrolled in the college, while applying the exemption system from the programme or some of its courses according to the performance of new students.

The board’s Academic Committee was tasked with preparing the necessary reports on this programme and presenting them during the following meeting.

The panel also endorsed a new fee schedule for the College, and requested the Secretariat-General to coordinate on it with the Higher Education Council to take the necessary procedures according to the regulations in force.
