A security source announced the martyrdom of a policeman and the injury of another, after chasing members of a gang in central Kirkuk. The source said that a police patrol suspected three people in the workers' square, and during their pursuit, a clash occurred with them, which led to the martyrdom of a policeman and the injury of another and one of the gang members. In a later development, the Kirkuk Police Command announced the arrest of a gang that killed a security member and injured another in one of the governorate's areas. The Command stated in a statement that "at 7:00, while the rescue patrols were roaming the public roads and after noticing three people stealing a store and trying to stop them, they opened fire on the rescue patrol, which led to the martyrdom of one of the patrol members and the injury of the other." It added that "all patrols were mobilized and the description of the motorcycle was circulated. It was pursued by one of the patrols and they were chased and arrested after one of them was injured," indicating that "the investigation is ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the accident.
