An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck today off the coast of southern Tonga in the Pacific Ocean. The US Geological Survey said: 'The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 131 kilometers from the Hihifo area, at a depth of 76.5 kilometers,' and there have been no reports so far about human or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
