Deputizing for HRH Princess Muna Al Hussein, Health Minister, Firas Hawari, attended the launch of the eighth edition of the "Enhancing Public Health Readiness and Response: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Way Forward" conference, organized by the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET). Hawari said that such a medical event provides opportunities to enhance and empower capacities and exchange knowledge in the health and medical fields, and is an opportunity to find strategic solutions towards achieving health well-being. Hawari cited Jordan's experience dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the speed with which the virus was contained and vaccines were distributed to all citizens and refugees, as evidence of the Jordanian health system's ability to respond quickly to epidemics, diseases, and viruses. He emphasized that in light of the continuing conflicts in the region, cooperation and solidarity are needed to minimize the risk of the spread of diseases that threaten to worsen and threaten human lives in the Gaza Strip and Sudan. He pointed out that the ministry started with comprehensive health coverage and primary health care as part of its vision to provide optimal health services to the citizen, praising the prominent role of EMPHNET at both the local and regional levels in the public health field, preparing qualified cadres, and conducting scientific studies. According to EMPHNET Executive Director Muhannad Nsour, the conference comes at a critical moment when global health concerns are escalating. It emphasizes the need for effective readiness and response to epidemics and health catastrophes. He emphasized that Jordan's hosting of this conference reflects Jordan's position as a civilized and cultural beacon that draws events and initiatives that contribute to the development of our communities. It also confirms Jordan's leadership in the field of public health and its eagerness to enhance regional and international cooperation to build more resilient health systems capabl e of facing future challenges.
