Amman: Ministry of Water and Irrigation received a number of machines and equipment from German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to serve 165,000 subscribers of the Kingdom's wastewater network. According to a ministry statement on Wednesday, Secretary-General of Jordan Water Authority (JWA), Wael Duwairi, said the new equipment and machines contribute to raise the level of permanent maintenance work for sewage networks and their sustainability. Duwairi added that the donation will serve 11 purification stations in all areas of Yarmouk Water Company (YWC)'s jurisdiction, provide processed water according to the highest specifications to supply restricted crops, create job opportunities, and raise the level of the environment. During the launching ceremony of the unified maintenance center for the sewage sector at YWC, he noted the establishment of this new facility aims to maintain services provided to citizens, improve ecological level and protect groundwater. The center, he noted, comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the ministry, JWA and German donor and funding institutions, aimed to find "permanent" solutions for the environmental problems and improve level of services provided to citizens in areas hosting Syrian refugees. Additionally, he expressed gratitude and appreciation to the German government and donor institutions for their continued support for the Kingdom's water sector, stressing constant cooperation with financing agencies, especially German side, to provide additional assistance for implementing new projects in the Kingdom's various regions.
