Amman: The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/ Water Authority of Jordan signed an agreement with the French Water Academy to train Authority employees at its training center on operation and maintenance, water and sanitation plant management, capacity building, and public safety. According to a statement by the Ministry on Monday, the agreement was signed by the Secretary-General of the Authority, Wael Duwairi, and the Director of the Academy, Sebastien Rigal, in the presence of the French Ambassador Alexis Le Cour. Duwairi noted that the program will train and qualify the Authority's staff, departments, and companies through capacity building, enhancing their experience, and introducing them to modern international practices to improve operation and maintenance skills in various water facilities. He emphasized that the training aims to enhance the performance of the water sector by diversifying knowledge and experience in line with strategic visions for managing water resources efficiently, reducing losses , and developing institutional performance. Le Cour stated that his government supports initiatives that enable Jordan to address its water challenges and build capabilities. He noted that this program aims to develop employees' skills and knowledge in the water sector and facilitate experience exchange. The advanced digital training platform will provide opportunities for training technical and specialized personnel in the Middle East. France is particularly interested in supporting Jordan's efforts to implement the national carrier project, he added. Separately, the Ministry of Water/ Water Authority of Jordan announced the implementation of text messaging services for private well owners through the groundwater management system. This service aims to facilitate and simplify water service procedures as part of the authority's plan to automate and computerize all services (E-Service), providing flexibility in managing transactions and reducing the burden on users. The SMS service will automatically send messages to well owners with the water prices owed according to their subscription and the well tariff, helping them stay informed about their water costs.
