The major stock indices on Wall Street closed with mixed results at the end of today's trading session. The S and P 500 index finished up by 5.66 points, or 0.10 percent, reaching 5,572.84 points. The Nasdaq Composite index rose by 49.58 points, or 0.27 percent, closing at 18,403.74 points.
