US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday held phone talks with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed on the current diplomatic efforts to reach a cease-fire in Gaza Strip. The department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, said in a press statement that Washington believes that a cease-fire agreement in Gaza would lead to releasing the prisoners and substantially increase humanitarian aid reaching the enclave. Miller added that Blinekn and Sheikh Abdullah discussed the post-strife period, means of restoring rule, security and reconstruction for paving the way to establish viable peace and security for both the Palestinians and Israelis. Miller added that the secretary of state expressed gratitude to the UAE for its substantial humanitarian support for the people of Gaza. The two sides, he continued, discussed joint objectives for bolstering regional stability and efforts to defuse tension across the borders between Lebanon and occupied Palestine, as well as resolving the conflict in Sudan Sourc e: Kuwait News Agency
