NEW YORK: After vetoing the Algerian resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield offered an alternative draft resolution, claiming that the Algerian-proposed draft will not bring about a durable peace. That's why the US is proposing a separate resolution that works towards a temporary ceasefire and calls against any forced displacement of Gazans and a major ground offensive in the enclave, she said addressing the UN Security Council meeting today on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question. The draft also reiterates the US vision of a Two-State solution. Source: Palestine news and Information Agency – WAFA
