US-Israeli Attack Hits Irradiation Sterilization Facility in Iran

Isfahan: A US-Israeli attack hit an irradiation sterilization facility in central Iran, causing 'significant damage,' Iranian authorities said Sunday. Iran's ISNA News Agency reported that the strike targeted a gamma irradiation sterilization center in Isfahan Province on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the National Center for Nuclear Safety Systems stated that the facility was targeted by air and missile attacks carried out by the US and Israel. The agency noted that the facility sustained heavy damage but emphasized that no radiation contamination has been reported in the surrounding area.

The incident contributes to regional tensions, which have escalated since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28. This prior attack resulted in the death of more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and injured over 10,000 others, as per Iranian authorities. In response, Tehran retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
