The US, the host of the 2024 COPA America, got up to a good start, defeating Bolivia by 2-0 goals in the opening match of Group C, while Uruguay overwhelmed Panama, beating them by 3-1 goals. In the first matchup -- held in the AT and T Stadium in Arlington, Texas -- the US passed its first test with flying colors with Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun scoring at the third and 44th minutes respectively. Meanwhile, in Florida's Hard Rock Stadium, Uruguay dominated Panama with Maximiliano Araujo, Darwin Nunez, and Matias Vina each scoring goals at the 16th, 85th, and 90+1 minutes of the match. Panama's sole goal came in the 90+4 minute via Michael Amir Murillo. Uruguay and the US both topped Group C by three points with the former placed first scoring more goals than the tournament's host.
