Amman: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned of the risk of a cholera outbreak in Gaza. According to a statement, Lazzarini Saturday discussed from Berlin in efforts to mobilise support for UNRWA the dire situation in embattled Gaza, calling for addressing famine and the "deterioration" in the south, where most Gazans are sheltered. Lazzarini expressed concern about children in the Strip. "We have about 600,000 school-age children in Gaza, and the top priority is returning them to learning. There is no effective Palestinian authority that can handle this." According to Deutsche Welle, Lazzarini was silent during the conversation for a moment, trying to find a wording to describe the situation... "We have never been in a situation like this before, and we have never lost this many people." Source: Jordan News Agency
