UNRWA Highlights Drastic Decline in Survival Conditions for 75,000 Gazans.

Gaza City: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has raised alarms over the rapidly diminishing survival conditions for approximately 75,000 individuals who remain trapped in the northern Gaza Strip. This announcement underscores the dire humanitarian situation in the area, which has been largely inaccessible for weeks. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA detailed in a recent post on X that between 65,000 and 75,000 people are still enduring severe adversities in the besieged northern Gaza. These individuals have faced over 50 days of increasingly challenging survival conditions, exacerbated by the ongoing violent hostilities that have impeded humanitarian aid delivery. UNRWA emphasized that the regions of Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun have been significantly restricted from receiving necessary aid amidst the conflict. These areas have not received humanitarian assistance for several weeks, leaving their inhabitants in a precarious situ ation. The agency further reported that in the past three days, the affected areas have experienced heavy rainfall and a considerable drop in temperatures. Thousands of displaced families are now grappling with the harsh winter conditions without access to essential items like blankets, mattresses, or adequate shelters to shield them from the elements. UNRWA revealed that from October 6 to November 25, 2024, the United Nations made 91 attempts to deliver critical humanitarian aid to these areas. However, 82 of these efforts were outright rejected, and the remaining nine were obstructed, highlighting the formidable challenges in providing assistance to those in need.
