The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said Tuesday that 800 to 1,000 cases of hepatitis are reported weekly in its health centers in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip. The agency said that up to 40,000 infections have been reported since Israel launched its war on October 7. The World Health Organization has warned of the risk of epidemics spreading in the Gaza Strip, after the polio virus was discovered in sewage water, which threatens lives in the enclave.
