NEW YORK: UNICEF today warned that oxygen generators at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in Der al-Balah city in the central blockaded Gaza Strip would shut down. 'Fuel supply to Gaza is still very low. With no consistent fuel delivery to Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, oxygen generators will shut down, risking the lives of more than 20 newborns,' the UN agency stated. It stressed the need that 'Gaza needs more fuel NOW and safe corridors for humanitarian workers to operate.' Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) called for allowing more fuel to the war-torn Strip. 'It is absolutely critical that more fuel enters Gaza and that humanitarian organizations can work in safety as hostilities intensify,' it stated. 'In northern Gaza, just one hospital remains partially functional. However, the Al Awda facility is currently inaccessible. Gaza's remaining health facilities are struggling to operate amid ongoing shortages of fuel, equipment and medical items,' it added. It reported that since the start of the Israeli genocidal offensive on Rafah, 'the entry of aid supplies into Gaza has been extremely limited.' Source: Palestine news & Information Agency - WAFA
